In my opinion, Spain is one of the best countries I have visited in Europe so far.
I love the food, people and culture...
In 2015, me and my homies made our first road trip through Costa Blanca from Valencia to Cadiz. That was dope! We were young, wild and free! (P.S.-We still are).
Our first adventure was a tomato fight festival... This trip surely triggered my addiction to adventures.
Meanwhile I visited Barcelona to party and made a road trip through Galiza.
Galiza is a region in north west Spain that has a lot of similarities with Portugal... one of them is its language... The language they spoke in Galiza is like Portuguese with a Spanish accent. If you like camping and beaches and you are looking to have a cheap trip in Spain, this is the place.
SPAIN 🇪🇸 La Costa Blanca
(2015)
A couple days after the "Vodafone Paredes de Coura" festival, my college friends Diogo Costa, William Milner, Ricardo Alves and I took a road trip from Valencia to Cádiz...15 days on the road baby!
We started shooting people with tomatoes in Buñol and ended up with a story of a missing guy from Gibraltar that was sleeping in our hostel's room in Cádiz and missed the national football team's match because he took too much cocaine the night before.
Summer, 4 friends, a car, some tents and a guitar... I'm sure that it was this trip that triggered my desire for adventure.
Before arriving in Spain, it only took us 1 hour to have problems with our car... We were near the Portugal/Spain border and the car suspension was gone!
After the insurance agency gave us a replacement car, we were ready for the trip again.
la tomatina
buñol | spain
La Tomatina is a food fight festival where everyone shoots everyone with real tomatoes just because yes... but the truth is... this is so f*ckin fun!
This was our first day of the trip. We arrived in Buñol, we drank, we threw a lot of tomatoes, we drank again while taking showers in the middle of a party outside and then we took the car to go to Valencia...
5 minutes later... police on the side of the road... They made us stop and Ricardo, who was driving the car, took the alcohol test. After the police officer looked at the result he said to us- "Justo" (tight). We almost got the car confiscated and a fine... if that had happened it would have been the "best" start to a trip ever. Luckeily we ate a lot before driving, that's why the alcohol test result was ok...
tv show "adam and eve"
valencia | spain
During this trip we slept in Airbnb, hostels and camping... In Valencia we stayed in an apartment and one night while we were having dinner, we watched the TV show "Adam and Eve" where people meet each other completely naked on an island and after some days they choose one partner to meet again in the real world...
We watched an episode where a guy from Valencia met 2 girls on the island and in the end of the show he chose the least likely girl to have a date... we laugh a lot with this episode...
After dinner while we were walking on the streets we found that guy with a random girl drinking in a bar. That's a big coincidence, right?
we were robbed
xábia | spain
In Xábia we were robbed!
After lunch in the middle of the forest with a peaceful view, we went to the beach.
Meanwhile we decided to drink champagne in a bar and we left some stuff on the beach like towels, a soccer ball, flip flops and a gas canister for camping.
But 5 bottles of champagne later we didn't care about time... It was already night when we came back to the beach and... everything was gone!
Cheers to us! We were robbed!
camping with private beach
mazarrón | spain
The closest place in europe to the african continent- only 14 km distance
tarifa | spain
Tarifa is the closest point in Europe to the African continent. From there you can see a little of the African continent with the naked eye.
Valdevaqueros (pictures below) is a well beach for kitesurfing and windsurfing...
Camping Rio Jara.
ronda
ronda | spain
The bridge below, Puente Nuevo, is 98m high, more than 200 years old and separates the old from the new side of the city.
cádiz- "the little european havana"
cádiz | spain
Cádiz is an interesting city... for me, it seems like the postcards of Havana, the capital city of Cuba...
We stayed in a hostel where we met 2 guys from Gibraltar who were in Cádiz to see the football game of Gibraltar's national team the next day. We went out at night to party and we met them again.. one of them was looking for cocaine on the streets and found a dealer... next day we woke up in the hostel with a huge hangover and the guy didn't arrive yet... so he just missed the game because of the cocaine trip... He arrived at the hostel in the middle of the afternoon and the next day we checked out and he was still sleeping...
SPAIN MADRID
(2022)
Parque de Atracciones de Madrid is dope! This place was full of school kids. Me and my friend waited almost 2h just to ride the main roller coaster while was 36Cº outside. Besides that, this is defenitely a good spot for adrenaline junkies.
It was also fun listening a lot of kids screaming everywhere and watching some of their parents trying to hide their fear while riding the attractions.
SPAIN Galiza
(2019)
Galiza is a region in Spain that has a lot of similarities with Portugal... That's because in the past, Galiza and Portugal were one kingdom, the Kingdom of Galicia as you can see below.
For example, the language spoken in Galiza is very similar to Portuguese... it's like Portuguese with a Spanish accent.
When I visited Galiza I was very surprised because Galician people are very welcoming people. I felt that they genuinely enjoy seeing Portuguese people visiting their region.
Galiza was surprising for its delicious and cheap food and for its simple beauty... This 7-day trip was a very peaceful trip linked to nature.
Camping Bayona Playa
bayona | spain
On this trip we only stayed in campsites and hostels... The main goal was to discover unusual beaches and be connected to nature... Camping Bayona Playa was our first stop, we stayed 2 nights there.
This campesite is pretty awesome... Down below there are some pictures (taken from the internet) of the campesite that is a small island with glamping, restaurant, bar, mini market, pool with slides and a private beach.
The bathrooms are always clean which shows that it's a very hygienic campesite...
This is the kind of place I really enjoy because it's like a little undiscovered paradise...
Camping Muiñeira
o grove | spain
Camping Muiñeira was our second accommodation.
The receptionist, Martin, seemed to be completely high or on medication or simply joking with us... He was talking with us and showing the campsite in a laid back mood... when we decided where to set up the tent, he started to leave when he stopped and said- "By the way, welcome" ("ja ahora bien venidos")...
As a receptionist, the greeting would be the first thing to do, right?
Two people and 6 books... reading is undoubtedly a way to relax your body and mind... as you can see, that's exactly what we were looking for with this trip.
Bolognese pasta. Do you also enjoy cooking while camping?
If you ever go to the Grove region of Galiza, you must try this tavern restaurant... So good and cheap... Exactly what we were looking for. A good local place to eat.
It seems that this tavern is well known for its fish dishes like octopus.
Galicia Cool Hostel
carballo | spain
This hostel has a blue flag beach just in front of it... The vibe there was pretty cool. People doing yoga in the morning, exercising, playing volleyball and tennis...
There we met a 50 year old Capoeira master guy, Ronaldo, from the slums (favelas) of Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. It was very interesting to hear some of his life experiences... 3 kids from 3 different women... Just imagine
Typical Galician Boob-shaped Cheese 🤤
A Coruña building facade.
Camping rinlo costa
lugo | spain
This campsite was surrounded by cornfields... The sunsets there were so dope...
Playa de las Catedrales
lugo | spain
This is a pretty unusual beach. During the high season, it's necessary to make a reservation to access this beach, as the maximum daily capacity is 4800 people.
You can see below why there is a maximum capacity...
This beach is very famous because of it's arches and caves.
The picture above shows exactly what I'm talking about...
Remember that you need to make the reservation directly on the Xunta de Galiza page to have access to this beach.
