HUNGARY 🇭🇺 Budapest
(2016)
If you want to have fun, Budapest is perfect for you.
Budapest is the capital city of Hungary and it's split by the Danube River into two parts... Buda and Pest. Buda is like the "families" side of the city, very pretty and clean... On the other side, Pest is the underground and "dirty" side of the city where you can find probably the best bars and parties of Europe.

Random Box
with random curiosities
1- Most of the old people I have been in contact with in Hungary "expressed" that they don't like foreigners... I'm not judging the country or it's community, but I felt some traces of xenophobia while I was there...
2- The longest Hungarian word is this one: Megszentségteleníthetetlenségeskedéseitekért - that means “due to your (plural) repeatedly not being able to be desecrated”.
3- The Hungarian language has 78 different words meaning "to move".
crazy party -erasmus gathering

I went alone to Budapest just for this huge party for all European Erasmus students...
Over 2 nights there were a lot of parties included in this event like Pub Crawls, a Boat party and even a party in the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, the biggest and most popular of all the thermal baths in Budapest.
I stayed at Wombats City Hostel and shared a room with Spanish, Swiss and Finnish people...
As you can see in the short video below, these 2 days were really crazy... everyone had a good vibe and open to having fun in this amazing city.
I planned to stay in Budapest for just 3 nights but after this experience I decided to extend it to 7 nights!
Budapest nightlife is well known for its ruin bars and discos... During the Pub Crawls we visited several peculiar underground bars where we had free shots at the entrance...

On the second night we had a Boat Party in the Danube River...

Széchenyi Thermal Bath ⛲️

But the second day wasn't just about night a party... on this day we started the party in the Széchenyi Thermal Bath.
Besides being the most famous thermal bath in Budapest, it's also the largest medicinal bath in Europe. Its water is supplied by two thermal springs, their temperatures are 74 °C and 77 °C.
Now imagine partying in a huge hot water outside pool.

I don't remember how much I paid for the Erasmus Gathering event (I think it was around 100€) but the accommodation and breakfast was included... as you see below, this breakfast was perfect for the hangovers

I pooped 4 times before I almost got beaten

Literally! While I was in Budapest I met my friend Gil and we went to a party in an apartment at night. At this party there were 15 Spanish girls and 5 guys including me and Gil... I was excited about the night but... my stomach was completely fucked up
I went to the bathroom at least two times and, as you might expect, I was worried about the smell that I left in the bathroom... can you imagine being in someone else's apartment, full of people/girls you don't know and leaving their bathroom stinking?!
Then, after drinking time, everyone left the apartment to find a party outside.
Finally, we chose the place- Morrison's 2, and while we were waiting in the line my stomach just sent me this message- "Bro! I think it would be a good idea to take a shit again!"... and so it was... next to the disco there was a barbecue restaurant almost closing and I went to the restaurant bathroom... not once but twice...

Finally I was able to enter the disco and have fun... Morrison's 2 has many different rooms with different music styles...
Gil and I were passing through the hallway to access the next dance floor when Gil decided to kick one of the foosball tables there...and the table fell to the floor.
1 minute later when we were entering the new room, two big security guards just stopped us and told us to wait a moment...
We looked at each other and realized what was going to happen... we asked the security guards why we couldn't go and they just said the same thing- "Wait a moment".
Then a short and fat middle-aged guy showed up completely furious and started yelling at us in Hungarian... we didn't understand a thing he was saying but we knew that we fucked up... or Gil fucked up
We apologized, but he kept yelling... and then he went to the entrance of a dark room, pulled the tape blocking the entrance and nodded to the security guards like- "Bring them here".
The security guards took us by the arms and pushed us into the dark room... there we just saw a long staircase that led to a door at the top.
They pushed us up the stairs again and then they started putting on black gloves... when we saw that we started to get really really nervous and scared...
Gil was in front of me and fell on the stairs and I smelled his "I'm gona die fart"... yes he farted
We reached the top, they opened the door and we were outside at the back of the building...
The security guards only told us- "Go".
We looked at each other relieved... and then we remembered that we left our jackets inside... so we asked the security guards to bring us the jackets... and that was it.

Szimpla Bar 🥕
budapest, hungary

Szimpla is the most famous bar in Budapest and probably one of the most famous ruin bars in the world.
Anyone who thinks that when they get there they will find just a bar is very wrong. That's because the spacious place, where a factory used to operate, was converted into a complex consisting of an open-air cinema and pub, with space for concerts, theatrical performances, among several other events.
The images below speak for themselves...

There's even a girl selling carrots in there...

Reading is perfect to calm your mind 📖
budapest, hungary
Being on a train is a peaceful and refreshing experience for me... you take some time to look at what is going on around you, the people around you, the landscape outside and then you realize you are in the middle of thoughts that you would never have in your daily life... That's why I'm so addicted to train travel.
One of the things I like to do the most is reading... and at that time I was reading a lot of Saramago books, a Portuguese writer and recipient of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Literature.
