My story about the night i almost died in the worst favela of brazil is almost done.

BRAZIL 🇧🇷 RIO DE JANEIRO

(2022)

In 2022 I went with my friend Moxito to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Moxito stayed 15 days and I stayed 1 month in total. As always, I don't like to jump from city to city while I travel so my initial plan was to stay in Rio de Janeiro for the whole month because this city is huge and I wanted to have a full experience there.

That was my first plan but in the middle of this adventure I needed to change my plans and go to a different place to relax my mind... I had a very dangerous experience in the biggest favela in South America and after that my mind was tripping a little...

Everyone says that favelas in Brazil are dangerous, and that's true. But I'm an exclusive traveler type so I was very curious about the lifestyle inside favelas/slums. I shook hands with criminals while they were holding machine guns and after several days experiencing this kind of stuff, I felt comfortable around so I leveled up my curiosity... and I will never repeat that again...

So I went to Ilha Grande island, which is a truly paradise full of beaches and peaceful vibes.

For me Rio de Janeiro is like the Pornhub of the deep web... It's not just about the sexual culture that doesn't have any filters but also because of the mess that this city experiences everyday during the day time and night... It's just surreal.

I met the boss of the favela criminals...

rio de janeiro, brasil

On this day, my friend Moxito and I met with a local guy (I will call him Diego) from one of Rio de Janeiro slums (I won't say the name to protect other people).

This guy is a "Cria" from the favela (slum) that means that he was born and raised inside the favela. He knows almost everyone there and through him we got access to places and people that are completely forbidden for outside people.

There is just one entrance and one road where tourists are allowed to enter to get access to tourist bars at the top of the favela. However, we got inside the favela from another entrance... 20 meters later we passed by a "zona de fogo", fire zone, which are the places where some guys sit in plastic chairs with huge weapons on their chest and on their lap.

When I say huge weapons like AK-47, G3, AUGs and stuff like that...

Some of these guys are very young, like 15 years old...

In these zones they are watching what is going on and making sure there is no Military Police or rival gang members around. They always have their Walkie talkies in their pockets, always prepared if something happens.

20 meters away, another "zona de fogo". At this one there were a dozen guys and one of them was having a hair cut while he was holding his AK-47... a couple meters away was another group of guys with machine guns.

We passed through them and our local guy started talking with the guy in the middle. This was the 2nd traffic boss of the favela with 35 years of criminal history.

He asked the local guy where we were from- "Portugal", Diego said.

"Hmm Portugal, I like (Jorge) Jesus", the Portuguese coach that won several titles with Flamengo Football Club, a famous team in Rio de Janeiro.

He noticed we were afraid and he said we can take a picture of the view.

I took my cell phone and took the following picture:

IMG_20220308_145649

I cannot describe the feeling but I was shaking like fuck while taking the picture because I was surrounded by criminals holding huge weapons all looking at me...

So we kept going through the favela alleys... We saw a lot of bullet holes on the walls, steel bars and electricity poles... scars from past shootings between gangs or between criminals and Special Forces of the Military Police.

While we were walking through the alleys, Diego told us that 2 weeks ago, 4 criminal guys were killed by other criminal guys from another major favela. These guys were killed because they robbed a mansion from the other favela... so they cut off their arms, legs and heads in cold blood... That's the punishment.

For us, everything we were experiencing was completely out of our comfort zone... for people like us that live in Europe, it's impossible to imagine gangs full of machine guns controlling huge slums and making money with drugs and other stuff while everybody, including the government, knows about it.

There is a lot of corruption that allows this to be possible... But of course, even if the government tries to stop this, it's almost an impossible mission... There are slums in Brazil with more armed forces than the Military Police... Crazy.

At one point we were with a random local guy that was holding a huge sound speaker and a microphone just talking random shit... I was recording him with my Gopro when a guy with a glock in his hand passed by us...

I looked at Diego in panic and he made the gesture like- "It's everything ok".

If you wanna see this moment recorded by my GoPro just watch the next 30 seconds video

I was lucky because the gun guy didn't notice my GoPro... if he did, I would be in serious trouble... as you can imagine the criminals don't want to be recognized and they don't want to expose their strategic places...

At the end of the day the local guy brought me to his house.

He shared a house with his ex-wife but now it's split in two with a wall. On one side is where she lives and in the other side is where he lives.

As you can see this is a tiny unfinished place right in the middle of the favela. He is trying to make some money to finish his house. He already has a big TV but the toilet is not finished yet...

It's surprising to see the conditions where this guy is living but I believe that he is going on the right path for a better life... at least he has an amazing view from his balcony.

bm13

After that we kept going through the favela alleys to visit his mother's house. Before arriving there we passed by a place where there were some inscriptions on the walls like the gang name that controls the favela "C.V" (Comando Vermelho), the boss name "RG" (Rogério), the article number for which he was arrested "157" (arrested for armed robbery) and the phrase- "Proibido passa" (Forbidden to pass).

We kept going...

And we arrived at his mother's house. We were warmly welcomed and we rested a little... walking through the slums is not an easy thing... I can't imagine how people do this every single day going to work and coming back...

One of the best things to do in Rio is to see it from a hill and then by Paragliding or Hang Gliding.

If you like adrenaline, or if you wanna enjoy the mixed view from the top of the sea, hills and city building, this is perfect for you.

The flight time is around 8 to 10 minutes.

Morro dos dois irmãos- two brothers hill

rio de janeiro, brazil

morro dois irmaos rio de janeiro (1)1

This is one of the most famous trails in Rio de Janeiro, "Morro dos Dois Irmãos" (Two Brothers Hill).

You can do it by yourself. You just need to go to the entrance of the Vidigal Slum and take a moto taxi that will take you through the middle of the slum to the entrance of the trail...

But there are also other options... you also can contact a tour agency (just search "morro dois irmãos tour" on Google) and they will take you there and show you the best spots to take pictures.

My friend Moxito and I paid a local guy from the slum to take us there... It was definitely an awesome experience.

On the way up we even saw a snake just chillin in the middle of the trail and when we reached the top, there were people listening to music, drinking and smoking joints... and I can understand why.

From the top there are crazy landscapes... You can see several points of the city as well as beaches and sea.

Our local guide just took some "touristic pictures" for us, like the one below... It's not my kind of picture and I really don't like this kind of "touristic" moment but... it was fun 😅

In the center of Rio de Janeiro, you can see Military Police everywhere carrying their machine guns... even on the beach there are helicopters with soldiers passing 10 meters away from the people...

AND A LOT OF TRASH ON THE STREETS

This photo was taken at the entrance of the PPG slum. Yes it's the entrance of a slum but it's almost impossible to go outside and not to see trash on the ground.

Even the beaches are full of garbage... There is a culture in Rio de Janeiro of huge consumption of plastic material like plastic bags and so on. One time I was eating an ice cream in a local spot when someone ordered 3 juices for take away. The staff prepared the order and put each juice container inside two plastic bags and then the 3 juice containers inside of another plastic bag...

i was Surrounded by drunk guys with machine guns in a favela funk party

rio de janeiro, brazil

favela ppg rio de janeiro (1)1

Saturday night, me, a French guy and 3 volunteers in the hostel where we were staying (Brazilian girl, Mexican guy and Bolivian girl), went to a Baile Funk (Funk Party) in the Favela do PPG, probably one of the smallest favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

31536000 (1)

Besides being small, this favela is very intense with a lot of movement and the criminals really like to show off with their weapons.

The gang that was controlling this favela is the same gang that controls other favelas in Rio including Rocinha, the biggest favela in South America.

None of us knew where the exact location of the party was, so we just kept going up through the favela while asking random people for help.

When we were near, a guy took us to the right spot but when we arrived, it was still empty... This place looked like a small concrete football field in the middle of slum houses, with a tent on top, very dark with a little stage and disco lights...

Right before getting there, there was a "Boca", places in favela where they sell drugs, in a tiny alley with a table with drugs and guys seated in plastic chairs with machine guns on their lap. No one asked questions when we passed through.

Apparently it was too early for the party, so we went back to a mini bar outside and ordered beers and caipirinhas.

At 2 am we were going to the party place and at the beginning of the alley, we passed by a young guy (no more than 18 years old) with a silvery glock in his hands watching out for people coming to the party. After him we saw a guy dancing with a machine gun in his hands next to the table with drugs. Again, no one asked us anything so we just passed through them.

At this time, the spot was just half full. In front of us was a midget guy dancing like crazy and a few meters away I saw a pregnant girl (probably around 7 month of belly) smoking a joint while twerking right in front of the sound speaker... Can you imagine?

In 30 minutes this place was completely full... the majority of people were girls and women that were gathering in groups, and the boys and men were the same...

I found the following picture on the internet that shows the place where the party was.

1657287262444 (2)

We were listening to 150 bpm funk; the majority of girls and women were twerking and dancing funk but I didn't see anyone interacting outside their group...

Then we started seeing gangsters walking in group in a straight line between people, with guns and machine guns in their hands... some with the machine guns pointed up and others down. I really didn't understand if they were changing their strategic position or just monitoring what was happening in the party.

They passed through people several times during the night and the group of gangsters was growing in number and armor capacity each time.

At 3 am it was time for a live concert by a guy that sings Brazilian romantic music that girls really enjoy. The environment changed and some girls who were in front of the stage took their phones to record the guy singing... This was the top moment of the party and as I also understood it was the top moment for the criminals too.

Imagine a group of at least 30 guys, all of them with guns and/or with machine guns in their hands, walking through people in a straight line passing right next to me and then coming back again and passingd by us from the other side...

I can't explain what the feeling was but I just tryed tried to show I was enjoying the music while avoiding looking at them... They really tried to show they were present and they control everything in this place. They did it for sure...

But this "parade" wasn't just random... something bigger was coming. A few minutes later a middle-aged black guy with gold chains on his neck passed by my side rubbed against my back... I looked at him and said sorry... at least 4 or 5 beautiful girls were following him and then, again, dozens of guys with machine guns were following them... this was madness... probably the man in front was the chief of the favela and it was his time to show himself off in the middle of the main concert of the night.

Every time they were walking through people you could feel the tension in the air... no one wanted to make any mistakes... when they were present no one touched their phones.

In the middle of the night I felt a man tripping over my foot as he passed by my right... I looked at him and he had a machine gun pointed at me... I said sorry as the mistake was mine. My heart was beating fast... How crazy is this?!

It's likely that these two situations were a way to intimidate us because we were the only foreigners there and... we weren't supposed to be.

It was almost 5 am when Jesus, the Mexican guy, asked me if I wanna stay or I wanna leave... The hostel volunteers wanted to go home... but me and Yanis, the French guy, were enjoying this experience and we didn't want to leave, so we both stayed... two gringos in the middle of girls twerking and criminal guys showing off their military power. That's it.

So they left and when the main concert ended, a DJ came to keep the party going and the environment completely changed.

We went back to 150 bpm funk but now the lyrics of the songs were just about criminal lifestyle and about the "Comando Vermelho", the gang that controls several favelas including this one.

I looked around and there were a lot of guys dancing with their guns in the air... literally everywhere around us... probably 30 machine guns and glocks. Just looking in the direction of the stage, you were able to see several machine guns in the air moving at the rhythm of the music. My friend and I looked at each other and we were completly astonished... This was so fucking surreal! We were surrounded by criminals that were completely high and drunk dancing with their machine guns in their hands next to us...

Some of these guys were drinking next to tables with bottles of vodka and whisky... Just having fun with their machine guns in their hands. I even saw a guy who was wearing a bulletproof vest.

It was insane... I really would like to show you what the environment was like, so I found the following video from a local guy of PPG slum with images of the same party place I was at.

At this time, no one touched their phones... This was the hour for hard partying... and things started to get wild.

At this time, girls were dancing like there is no tomorrow and guys were trying their luck with them...

Me and Yanis were just drinking beer and smoking cigarettes while dancing in a shy way, trying to avoid looking at the girls twerking right in front of us... we both knew that looking at the wrong girl could bring us serious problems.

It was already daytime when we decided to leave the party. We passed by the criminals, then by the "Boca" in the tiny alley and then by the young guy with a Silvery Glock... and we went to buy food right in front of the alley entrance, on a very steep slum road.

It was already 6:30am, we were waiting for our burgers and a police car was going down the slum in the main road and 1 minute later a guy was walking down as well with a machine gun and a bullet proof vest... I recorded this video:

favela (2)
favela (1) (1)
favela (3)

How crazy it is to see a police car going down the slum and 20 meters away there are dozens of criminals selling drugs, from weed, cocaine to heroin, dancing and getting wasted with their machine guns in their hands...

The next day, Jesus told me that one of the girls that was with us was afraid and that's why they left earlier. Later I asked the girl why she was afraid and then she asked me - "Didn't you see?".

Me- "What?".

"There was a couple next to us and then a criminal took the guy to a hidden place... minutes later the guy came back to the girl and his legs were shaking.."

I really didn't notice that but if I did, I probably would think twice before staying.

Thanks my bro Jesus.

rio de janeiro, brasil

This story is about the first time I went to the favela of Vidigal. I was with Moxito and my friend William and we took a moto taxi to get there... It was a good adrenaline experience going up the alleys by moto... It seems that moto taxis try to compete with each other to see who scares tourists the most... so they accelerate a lot...

First we went to a bar on the top of the favela where tourists are allowed to go. There we met a local girl who is a tour guide and we planned to meet again at the favela party at night. Let's call her Linda for privacy purposes.

It was time to go back to our hostel to take a shower, have dinner and be ready for the party and we started thinking... "Hmm, what if we go down to the favela on foot?".

We knew that tourists only use moto taxis to reach the bar on top and to come back but we wanted to do it in a different way...

And so it was... When we started walking, our legs were literally shaking and we didn't talk to each other... We were tense and afraid. I was in front and behind me was William and then Moxito. I was in front because I almost looked like a local and William had the typical tourist flower shirt while Moxito had a black t-shirt with the Pornhub logo 😂 so we tried to look like I was the local guide doing a tour for the tourists. 😂

The truth is that everyone that looked at us knew we all were outsiders and at some moments we saw people staring at us and then we heard some guys saying -"What are you looking for?" and "Let's mug them?"...

But nothing happened... Thank god!

mde

After dinner, we went back to the top of Vidigal slum to meet Linda. We went to the party and it was interesting to see how the environment was.

At the entrance of that party was a "Boca", the place where gangsters sell drugs, and in the dance floor we saw one of the gang bosses (Linda told us who he was).

But the most crazy thing was when a young girl, probably 13/14 years old, met us and stayed with us all night long while our local guide Linda was encouraging her to dance for us... the girl even did the "quadradinho" dance (search it on google) right in front of us while Linda was saying -"Yeah girl, do it again and more provocatively..."

I really don't know what Linda's goal was with that but it was strange to see such a young girl dancing just for us all night long... maybe Linda is a pimp?! 🙄 Everything is possible there.

Anyway, it was already daytime when I took the following picture... that's madness, right

favela sunset

And then we took a minibus to go down the favela... at 10 meters away from the following place were the "Boca" and 2 guys with machine guns.

AN ALTERNATIVE fAVELA TOUR

rio de janeiro, brazil

This Favela Tour was sick bro! This was a tour through one of the favelas of Rio de Janeiro but it wasn't a normal tour. I did this tour with Diego, the local guy, and Jimmy, the guy I met through Diego at a barbecue.

We walked through the "deepest" alleys of the favela and we were able to go where outsiders can't go without a cunning local person... Diego also showed us alleys where a couple of years ago, there were shootings between Military Police and gangsters.

In one of these alleys were 2 guys with smoke grenades, walkie talkies and AUG machine guns. We greeted them and they didn't ask any questions because we were with Diego.

Jimmy explained to me why they were in that strategic location and why they have smoke grenades and the AUG machine guns specifically... During the tour he was explaining everything we were seeing to me and it gave me a different perspective of what was beind the weapons, the gangsters and this place... I was amazed how Jimmy was able to understand everything around him without knowing how to speak their language.

After lunch we passed through a group of men where one of them was wanted by police with a reward of tens of thousands of Reais...

Take a look at the following photos I took on this tour and verify yourself how mad this place is.

This experience was tough... This was a tour by paddle board from Tijuca Coast to a small preserved island where we can jump off cliffs.

I did it with Moxito, his first time on paddle board, and some friends I met at the hostel, very good people. It was about 40 minutes paddling to the island but when we got back it was hard as f*ck because the sea current was against us...

One of my favorite hobbies is jumping off cliffs and doing back flips... when I find a good spot to do it, I definitely give it a try!

On the small island we found this place to jump. It was a little sketchy because we needed to wait for the waves to have a good depth to jump.

I did a backflip from there and then my friend tried it too... look at his amazing picture bro!

ILHA GRANDE... THIS IS A FUCKING PARADISE!

ilha grande | rio de janeiro, brazil

Ilha Grande is an island in Rio de Janeiro and it's the complete opposite of Rio de Janeiro city center's environment. Here you will find peace, paradise beaches and lots of parties.

I went to Ilha Grande with my friend Mathias who I met for the first time in Ipanema through Yanis, the guy from the Favela Funk party story.

We took a bus from Copacabana to Conceição do Jacarei where we took a speedboat straight to Ilha Grande. The speedboat experience was wet as fuck! This speedboat takes 30min to arrive and the normal boat takes 1:30h.

On the speedboat the water was always coming in and getting everyone wet as the front line luggage.

When we arrived there was only a small village where locals and tourists stayed. Look at this place, this is a little paradise on earth:

ACAIÁ CAVE... THIS IS REALLY DOPE!

ilha grande | rio de janeiro, brazil

In Ilha Grande Island I visited a cave that is 8 meters under the water and the average height is just 1 meter...

The entrance to the cave is through a hole and it goes way down to an "underground stone beach".

There is a crack in the coastal stone, through which sea water has access to an underground corridor where the underground stone beach is.

Entering the water is dangerous because the water currents are pretty strong and a guy already died trying to pass from the inside to the outside of the cave by water...

If you like underground experiences you definitely should try this one when you visit Ilha Grande island.

THIS GUY FUCKED HIS 3 COUSINS at 10 YEARS OLD... AND WAS EXPELLED FROM his UNCLE'S HOUSE

ilha grande | rio de janeiro, brazil

The owner of the boat that took us through the beach tour shared some crazy stories about his life with us.

First of all, this guy is the business owner that does guided tours through paradise beaches in the Ilha Grande Island. He has some boats and drivers working for him.

I went on his guided tour with two more friends, Mathias and Ramzi, and we brought a bottle of Vodka to make the day more fun.

After half an hour this guy was already drinking vodka with us and at the end of the day he was high too and started to share some crazy stories about himself.

I'm not sure about his age but I think he was less than 30 years old.

He told us he has already 3 kids from 3 different women and two of them found out that he shitted on them. One of the women broke a glass over his head and the father of another one hit him in his mouth with a stick... he showed me the scar.

Then he started digging up more stories until he said- "I fucked my cousins when I was 10 years old".

"Wtf bro?!"- I was in shock.

He explained that when he was young his parents broke up and he went to his uncle's house to live with him and with 3 girl cousins.

He explained that he's from Baía, a state in Brazil, and people from there are "known" to be "sexually active" and that's why he started to have sexual relations with of cousins with almost the same age.

At some point his uncle called his mother and told her- "If your son doesn't leave my house immediately you will have 3 grandchildren..."

So he left...

I went to see a Flamengo game

rio de janeiro, brazil

maraca rio de janeiro1
flamengo game brazil

Flamengo FC is one of the top football teams in Brazil and I couldn't leave Rio de Janeiro without watching a Flamengo game in its stadium, The Maracaná.

Me and my friend Ramzi bought two match tickets on the "black market" and went together to watch the game. FLAMENGO vs FLUMINENSE was a classic and the stadium was completely full of the Flamengo side.

People in Brazil are fanatics about football and everybody around us was singing and insulting the referee all the time...

The "lowest" moments of the experience was when Fluminense scored 2 goals... we definitely felt the tension in the air. The final result was 0-2 for Fluminense and when we were leaving the stadium, we saw some angry people yelling and kicking random objects on the street.

Imagine people with Flamengo's symbol tattooed on their chest, probably drunk and really mad because they just watched their team losing an important game against one of their biggest rivals... Madness!

PEDRA DO SAL... THIS IS ANOTHER DIMENSION

rio de janeiro, brazil

"Pedra do Sal" is an amazing place to go out at night. This place is like a mix of a dark environment with good vibes and full of random people around.

Here you will be surrounded by all kinds of people. Local people, teens, tourists, straights, gays, trans... everything.

I went to this place several times and one of the nights this place was full of people as usual and I needed to pee. So I found a portable WC that costs 2 reais (0,20€) to use it but the woman who was taking the money told me that I needed to wait a little because the WC was occupied.

A guy that was working with the women was holding the WC door and I noticed that inside it was two guys... One of them was standing with his left hand on top of the WC holding himself and it was possible to see the shadow of another guy giving him a blowjob...

So I complained to the women- "WTF?! I want to pee and I'm waiting here because there are two guys giving blowjobs inside the WC?"

The women laughed and screamed to her partner to tell them to leave... and then apologized and gave me the money back 😅

Another night I went inside a bar to pee in the bathroom. As always, I paid to use the bathroom and then I walked in its direction. Before I reached the WC I passed by a billiard table and above it was a baby sleeping...

Imagine a dirty place where it is hot as f*ck with loud funk music... and a baby sleeping alone above the billiards table... crazy.

I met a famous funk artist in the favela,
he has 2 million instagram followers

rio de janeiro, brazil

One day I went to Vidigal slum to meet a local friend and drink some beers on the top of the favela when a famous guy showed up. Suddenly a lot of people surrounded him to take pictures... Some people came from far away just to see this guy.

This guy is a famous Funk artist (Instagram- @efipedotrembala) and he went to this place with some friends just to smoke a joint and have dinner but people were constantly interrupting him to take pictures.

Even the local guy I was with was crazy about him.

I noticed a fun moment when a couple met the guy and the boy asked him if the artist could take a picture with his girlfriend... haha wtf? Why didn't she ask instead of him? haha

Some moments later four guys showed up and told us that they came from another city and asked us if they could take a picture with the artist... they thought we were from his crew 🤷‍♂️😂

After a while I decided that I won't leave this place without a photo with him to remember this moment... So we took a photo and then I asked him what was his biggest challenge as a famous artist. He said- "Hmm my biggest challenge is the fear of going to a place and no one recognizes me".

Barbecue in a favela

rio de janeiro, brazil

My local friend, Diego, invited us to a barbecue at his mother's house. This barbecue was a real local favela experience. Everyone was in a good vibe and the food and drink was on point. This is definitely the kind of local experience I'm looking for while traveling!

The following video and photos speak for themselves.

CRISTO REDENTOR... THE WORST EXPERIENCE

rio de janeiro, brazil

CRISTO REDENTOR 1

Everyone that goes to Rio de Janeiro knows about the "Cristo Redentor" statue. This statue is the most iconic symbol for tourists and you probably you already saw some pictures on the internet or pictures of your friends with this statue before, am I right?

Tourist attractions are not my thing, but I was curious about why this statue is so fuckin famous... While I was in Rio I saw it everywhere... on shirts, in the sand, mini statues in the markets, on paintings...

So I gave it a try and... it was my worst experience in Rio... it was the worst experience for Moxito too 😅

But why Kevin?!

Because we took almost 45 minutes get there by bus, our ID and C0vid certificates were checked 3 times, we stayed there just 5 minutes because the statue is only 38 meters high, is surrounded by tourists trying to take pictures and we took another 45 minutes to come back to Copacabana...

The picture you see above is the only way to take a picture with the statue without anyone around... so you need to take a selfie from bottom to top... 😂

But as you already noticed, I don't try to "sell" the perfect travel moments like influencers do... I show and talk about exactly what the truth is, with no filters...

And the truth about the "Cristo Redentor" experience is described in the next two photos...

people got killed doing the same thing

rio de janeiro, brazil

In 2016 two Italian tourists, after visiting the "Cristo Redentor", went to a favela by mistake with their motorcycles and one of them had a GoPro in his helmet.

The GoPro guy was killed with a head shot by the gangsters controlling the favela and the other guy was kidnapped for two hours and then released alive (Below I share the news links of this case).

It seems a big coincidence but I went to visit the "Cristo Redentor" and then I met the local guy Diego and he took me with his motorcycle to the top of his favela while I was recording with my GoPro all the time.

Doing this is really dangerous because if any gangster sees people with cameras, they will probably think you are a cop and they will shoot you... exactly what happened to the Italian tourists...

"Ok Kevin, but what about the video you recorded?".

Enjoy this crazy experience in the video below 😉

we went to the beach...
the worst decision ever

rio de janeiro, brazil

ipanema beach rio de janeiro (1)1

There is a beach that extends from Ipanema to Leblon (almost 4km in length) that is divided from section 7 to 12. Moxito and I were walking along the beach looking for a spot to sit near the water and drink a Caipirinha, the perfect plan for a hot afternoon.

Then a guy approached us saying- "Hello! Do you need chairs and a sun umbrella?".

"Bro, that's exactly what we need!"- I said.

So we went with him to choose a spot on the beach and then he got 2 chairs and a sun umbrella.

The beach was full of people because it was Sunday afternoon.

Already seated on the chairs, we looked around and we only saw guys with tiny swimming shorts. We looked at our beach section number and... it was number 8! This section beach is called "Gay Farm". 🤣

We are 100% hetero and 0% prejudiced but that definitely wasn't what we were looking for.

During this afternoon we laughed a lot because of the situation... We were surrounded by guys with tiny swimming shorts giving massages to each other and flirting with everybody...

Because we already had chairs and the sun umbrella we decided to stay. Meanwhile I got hungry. I called for a guy, one of the dozens of ambulant sellers, that was selling "Açaí" (it's like an ice cream), my second of the day.

The guy genuinely loves his business selling "Açaí" on the beach and he talked to me about more ideas he had for the business, in a very mysterious way... He also told us that he started this business 2 years ago while he was changing from a bad life. I really don't know what we was trying to say with the word "bad" but he was really hyped because of his business.

I asked for an "Açaí" with granola and banana and when the guy took the banana, he started catching the people's attention saying- "Hey guys! Look at me peeling my banana for our friend here!".

He was on his knee peeling the banana and cutting it while doing a freestyle rap for the moment.

It was a fun moment as you can see on the video below:

I will leave his contact here... if you ever go to Ipanema beach and you want an "Açaí", text this guy on WhatsApp, he will come to you.
